The final round of the Reserves season before the semi-finals sees Leeds Rhinos take on Hull FC as a curtain-raiser to the main Betfred Super League game at AMT Headingley on Thursday night, kick off 5.15pm.

Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves and Wakefield Trinity are all confirmed in the final four and will have a chance to play off for a spot in this year's Reserves Grand Final. Meanwhile, Chev Walker's Leeds Rhinos side need only a win in front of a home crowd to book their spot in the semi-finals as they face off against a Hull side, who can still mathematically qualify with a win on Thursday and a decision still to be made on their postponed game against Castleford Tigers last week.

A try on a first Reserves outing from Jacob Tooala, coupled with a 22nd try of the season for Riley Lumb, wasn't enough to see Leeds over the line against Trinity last Friday night as the home side scored four second-half tries to win 28-14. The result both confirmed Wakefield's place in the semi-finals and dropped the Rhinos to fourth in the standings, meaning that should they get a win this Thursday, Walker's side will head to the unbeaten Warriors in the semi-finals.

So far, 2026 has been a mixed season for the Reserves but nevertheless the competition has allowed players from all grades to develop their game in the Leeds system. The Trinity match last week saw Tooala and prop Junior Rowse become the latest members of the Under-18s Academy team to run out in Reserves colours, whilst the likes of Oliver Smart, Ben Littlewood, Oscar Brown, Jacob Hardy and Joe Diskin (all of which have signed new deals to stay at the club) have all made an impact on the competition in their second seasons as Reserves players. Hardy and Diskin were amongst the try scorers when the Rhinos claimed a convincing 44-18 win over Hull during the first part of the season, plus current first teamers Presley Cassell, Zak Lloyd, Riley Lumb, Ned McCormack as well as Marcus Qareqare also crossed the try line. The result will be one that the side look to emulate as the crowd build towards a huge Super League game too.

Francis Cummins' Hull side only qualified for the top six by the slimmest of margins, but the Black and Whites have their eyes set on going much further if they can topple the Rhinos on home soil.

Winning five out of 11 games during the first 11 games of the season, Hull qualified ahead of their cross-city rivals Hull KR only on points difference alone as they were one point better off (-48 points) than the Robins who finished with a points difference of -49. A single point has proved important for Hull after the season split too as Owen Bartle stepped up to kick his side to a 21-20 win over Warrington to add to a 34-22 win over Wakefield in their opening game of the top six.

Also pushing Wigan close in a 28-26 final score at the end of July, they arrive at AMT Headingley having played a game less following last week's postponement against Castleford Tigers.
